[laughter] i think it's very important that people who are in the media tried to do as much as possible as people who do have a public platform, tried to do as much as possible to increase the perception, to vary the perception, show for example that there can be a puerto rican congressman, a democrat in chicago, and a pr and mormon republican elected in idaho. cuban elected democrat senator from new jersey and a cu

i have been watching the president since harry truman. i think this whole thing about benghazi is very clear. if you remember back to the second presidential debate when mr. romney was debating mr. obama, he did not bring up the question of benghazi. it was my understanding that he received an intelligence agency briefing prior to that debate. most of the material concerning benghazi was classified. i was wondering if that was the reason he did not bring it up because he no was classified. as far as what actually happened, i think that is abundantly clear mr. obama got beat in the first debate and could not take another beating. they tried to cover it up and make it look like it was something other than what it really was. it was because he did not need to get creamed in another debate. he lied about it and it is that clear. definitely, we see that discussion in the hearing yesterday with the other side of the aisle talking about this classified aspect. most of the stuff was not classified. it has been put under the shroud by this adminis

the reason is that harry truman understood and reflected what is best about america. he was optimistic about the prospects for human progress but conscious of the perils posed by weakness and fear. he was proud of america's strength, but aware of the need for allies and friends. he thought of the united states as exceptional, but not because it was exempt from the rules that apply to others. america was the champion of liberty, law, and justice for all. we admired president truman because he dared to build greatly and because what he built was made to last. to honor his legacy, we must strive to do the same. to that end, i pledge my own best efforts. thank you very much. i would be happy to answer your questions. and since i am no longer in the government, i will be able to do that. [applause] >> ok, we are ready for questions as long as you identify yourself. >> [inaudible] recent public opinion polls said the american people have no interest [inaudible] in any kind of action in syria. to what degree does that knowledge about where americans stand emboldened the regi
